Cited liabilities and open unknowns

Not approved for human use anywhere. Liability note: CJC-1295 is not approved for human use by the FDA or another major regulator. Its human record is limited to small, early pharmacology studies, with no large or long-term safety trial in healthy adults. [1] [16]

Discontinued development program and a cited patient death. Liability note 2: The long-acting DAC program entered a Phase 2 study in HIV-associated visceral obesity and was discontinued. A patient death is often cited with that history, but the public record does not establish that CJC-1295 caused it. [21]

Immunogenicity flagged by the FDA. Liability note: FDA briefing materials raised immunogenicity—the possibility of an immune response to the peptide—when CJC-1295 was not recommended for the 503A compounding bulks list. This is a regulator-level concern, not a settled clinical outcome. [20] [12]

Sustained IGF-1 elevation and theoretical cancer risk. Liability note 4: CJC-1295 raises growth hormone and IGF-1. Population research links higher circulating IGF-1 with a modest increase in some cancer risks, creating a theoretical concern rather than proof that this compound causes cancer. [17]

Fluid retention, swelling, and nerve-compression effects. Liability note: Growth hormone promotes kidney retention of sodium and water. That mechanism gives the reports of puffiness, swelling, and nerve-compression tingling a biological basis and makes the issue more than cosmetic. [18]

Effects on blood sugar and insulin sensitivity. Liability note 6: Growth hormone is glucose-sparing, so sustained GH-axis activity can reduce insulin sensitivity and raise blood sugar. A clinical GHRH-analog study documented an effect on insulin sensitivity. [19]

DAC and no-DAC forms are routinely confused. Liability note: CJC-1295 DAC and no-DAC Modified GRF (1-29) are often treated as the same product even though one remains active for days and the other for minutes to hours. That difference changes how every report is interpreted. [7] [22]

Prohibited in sport at all times. Liability note 8: CJC-1295 is prohibited at all times under the World Anti-Doping Agency’s S2 category. Established laboratory methods also make this an eligibility and detection issue, separate from health effects. [14]
